How do I prepare for my first appointment at Novus Dental?
Before your first visit, please complete the online intake form and bring a valid ID, your insurance card (if applicable), and any referral letter from your dentist or specialist. If you have recent X-rays or treatment records, bringing these can be helpful.
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Bring your identification, insurance information, referral (verwijzing) if required, and a list of any medications you are currently taking.
How early should I arrive?
We recommend arriving 10–15 minutes early so you can relax, complete any remaining forms, and get familiar with the clinic.
Can I eat or drink before my appointment?
Yes, unless you are scheduled for sedation or surgery. In that case, we will give you specific fasting instructions in advance.
Referrers/Verwijzer

Do I need a referral to book an appointment?
For general dentistry, a referral is usually not required. For specialist treatments (such as implantology, oral surgery, or orthodontics), a referral from your dentist or GP may be necessary.
How does the referral process work?
Your dentist or healthcare provider sends us a referral (verwijzing) with your medical and dental information. Once we receive it, our team will contact you to schedule your appointment.
Can I book an appointment before my referral is sent?
Yes, you can already contact us to reserve a time slot. Please make sure your referral is sent before your first visit.
Can Novus Dental update my referrer after treatment?
Yes, with your consent we provide feedback and treatment reports to your referring dentist or healthcare provider.

Does Novus Dental work with my insurance provider?
We work with most major Dutch health insurers. Coverage depends on your specific policy and supplementary dental insurance.
How can I check what my insurance covers?

- Avoid hard or sticky foods for the first 24 hours

What should I do after surgery or an extraction?
- Bite gently on the gauze for 30–60 minutes
- Avoid rinsing, spitting, or drinking through a straw for 24 hours
- Apply a cold pack to reduce swelling
- Take prescribed medication as directed
Is swelling or mild pain normal?
